Vocational Habilitation

Developing your social skills and work abilities.
Dial Supportive Home Care offers Vocational Habilitation services in a non-residential setting. Vocational Habilitation provides learning and work-based experiences, including volunteer opportunities, that help individuals develop skills leading to integrated community employment aligned with their interests, strengths, priorities, and abilities.

According to the department, Vocational Habilitation can help individuals learn how to:

Manage personal care needs in the workplace, including hygiene, meals, and medications

Interact appropriately with customers, co-workers, and supervisors

Advocate for themselves at work

Arrange and use transportation to and from work

Progress toward community-based employment

Vocational Habilitation services are based on each individual’s needs, identified through an assessment and documented in their Individual Service Plan (ISP). Services are provided over a defined period of time with person-centered goals developed in collaboration with the individual and their support team.

Services may also include ongoing support, information, and referrals to Career Planning services, disability benefits, and other appropriate resources.

Ongoing support activities may include direct supervision, in-person or telephone monitoring, counseling, and job-related skill development, including:
